Arizona Heartfelt Hounds

“The fastest you’ll ever fall in love”

Arizona Heartfelt Hounds is now part of AGR Foundation, Inc. We remain a non-profit, all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) sighthound rehoming program dedicated to finding responsible and loving forever homes for retired racing Greyhounds and other Sighthound breeds

The Marana campus which will open early in 2025 will finally give Arizona Heartfelt Hounds a home location… and it will give us space to be able to help even more precious Hounds. Thank you for hanging in there with us for so many years… since 1994! Arizona Heartfelt Hounds will continue to do what we do for Hounds… now along side Sol Dog Lodge and Training Center.

adoption

Do you want that warm and loving feeling when you look into your dog’s eyes?  Do we have the dog for you!  You will get your best friend for life and unconditional love that only an adopted dog from Heartfelt Hounds can give.

Our adoption application has been designed to evaluate potential adopters to ensure that each person who adopts a greyhound, or another sighthound breed is not only aware of that responsibility, but also to address the suitability and permanence of each dog placed in a home.

greyhounds

We work with farms, tracks, and other greyhound adoption groups around the US and in Australia to bring adoptable Hounds to Southern Arizona. Our dogs go through a medical evaluation, are spayed/neutered, receive dental care, and are tested and start treatment for parasites. Our dogs go immediately into a foster home, or they may stay in the kennel at Sol Dog Lodge and Training Center to get a little extra decompression time and to receive additional special training

sighthounds

We work closely with other sighthound adoption groups in the United States such as the American Lurcher Project, Ohio, internationally with Racing2Rehome in Australia and with Galgo groups and other sighthound adoption groups to help find new homes for all sighthound breeds. Many of these different breeds work well to become service dogs or assisted living residential therapy dogs.

Our sister organization, Sol Dog Lodge, provides the Service Dog training and proper placement with veterans, persons with a disabilities, or in assisted living homes.

Hound mixes

We make a point to work with shelters, other dog rescue groups, and individuals that may have a sighthound mixes come into their surrender program. We have been very successful in our evaluation, care, and re-homing these mixes that come into our family.

We know that we will receive more hound mixes, but we don’t know when.

Typically we don’t have much lead time when we receive them. We advertise them first on Social Media, so you will hear about them on our Facebook Page first.

how you can help

Arizona Heartfelt Hounds is now under the umbrella of AGR Foundation, Inc., along with our sister organization Sol Dog Lodge and Training Center. But we remain an all-volunteer program and rely on volunteers and fosters to help us achieve our mission. You are vital to our success and hope you can find an opportunity that piques your interest to join our family. We realize that everyone has various amounts of time and skills to offer and we appreciate everyone for their efforts great and small.

foster a dog

Our dogs in foster care start their great journey towards their goal of finding a loving forever home. Our foster program is designed to help the dog become acquainted with family living. Your foster dog will experience many firsts – to walk on tile or stairs, to watch TV, to be in a house, to be with other dog breeds and/or cats. Foster care can be as short as an overnight stay after a spay/neuter surgery to a longer term commitment that lasts until the dog gets adopted. AHH will be happy to work with you to meet your needs and match the best hound to your situation. Typically a hound is in foster care for 1 to 3 months.

Volunteer

We are an all-volunteer organization and rely on volunteers and fosters to help us achieve our mission. You are vital to our success and hope you can find an opportunity that piques your interest to join our family. We realize that everyone has various amounts of time and skills to offer and we appreciate everyone for their efforts great and small.
