Kevin (Now Kal)

Kevin joined the AHH family after retiring from the recently closed race track in Caliente Mexico. His racing name was Katalox Ruperto.

Thanks the loving arms of our village, Kevan has found his forever and ever home with Pati and Lonnie P. He joins a beautiful greyhound sister.

Starstar (now Louise)

We found an absolutely perfect home for StarStar with Jeannette and Paul. And she loves her new silly dog brother, Hank! StarStar is a special needs Ibizan hound. She is deaf and has allergies that are well controlled with food and medication. But she will thrive with Jeannette, Paul, and Hank. Thank you for welcoming StarStar, now known as Louise or Lolo, into your home!

Brad was born December 2020 in Australia, where he was a racing dog. His racing name was Off He Goes. He retired at a young age, Arizona Heartfelt Hounds brought him to Tucson, and he had a loving foster home in Hereford. And now this character is Adopted!

Brad is friendly and outgoing, and he loves to be loved by his new Mom and family. Congratulations to Pat!

Cindy came to AHH from Australia at 4.5 years old. Her race name was Gleaming. What a sweet, friendly, outgoing, confident, personable, and affectionate girl! She was in a foster home in Tucson where she learned her house manners.

And now, Cindy is living in her best life in a forever home in Surprise where she is loved and pampered. Congratulations Jacob W!

When Chapo retired in 2015, we named him Hansel. His racing name was BWG Big Billy. He was renamed by his family, who he lived with for 7 years. This sweet older boy was returned to the AHH family because he was very uncomfortable with the family’s toddler.

When Tia retired in 2015, we named her Dina. Her racing name was Dutch Dina. She was renamed Tia by her family, who she lived with for 6 years.

Dalia is a super sweet girl and is just eighteen months old! She never raced and came to AHH from Kansas. She is all black from nose to tail. Dalia’s foster mom decided to give Dalia a forever home with her male greyhound and female lurcher. She loves to follow her mom everywhere… so much that her nickname is Shadow!

Date is a petite brindle girl who is very sweet and affectionate. She is dog door trained. She has not had any accidents in the house. She loves to go in and out the dog door to lay in the sun. She sleeps through the night. She loves to be where ever you are. She is starting to discover the joy of playing with stuffies. She is doing well on walks although small animals do peek her interest. She is currently living with a male and female greyhound and gets along well with them.

This beautiful girl was adopted by a loving mom and dad and lives in Green Valley.

Dawson is a sweetheart. He buries his head in his foster Mom’s and Dad’s lap while getting lots of lovin’. His ears fold over, forward, and that gives him an adorable look.

Dawson learned quickly to go outside to do his business and hasn’t had an accident since his first day with his fosters. He is a little on the skinny side, but his appetite is good and he will fill out.

Dawson was adopted with Cervenka and lives in Kingman, AZ.

Cervenka

Cervenka raced an incredible 152 times, winning 20 times and coming in second 22 times. Her last race was December 28, 2020 in Palm Beach, FL.

Cervenka is a gentle soul who does not let anything bother him too much (including a vacuum pushing against his back legs … yawn) and is fantastically calm on walks. When he wants something, though, he can be quite persistent, squeezing through the smallest of spaces to get to it. Cervenka comes with his own remote control. Squeeze a squeaky toy and this boy comes running! He gets along great with his foster sister and brother, Freya and Loki. He doesn’t even respond when Loki gives a slight little growl when sleep startled. In fact, we have yet to hear him growl or get upset about anything.

Evandro / Evan

Evan is a 2 yr old retired racer from Kansas. He raced at Caliente in Mexico. He is a total sweetheart and very smart… so smart that we tested him for our service dog program. Unfortunately, we noticed an issue with a rear leg, so we took him for an orthopedic vet exam. His x-rays are clear, but he has an old soft tissue. This injury washed him from the service dog program. Evan was with a wonderful foster family and we thank them every day!

Happy Boy (Now Koda)

Happy Boy, and his litter mate Sasha are almost 2 yrs old. They were born on a farm in Arkansas, taken to a track in Alabama, but never raced. He had a fairly difficult neuter surgery but he recovered quickly and was ready to go to his new home.

Happy Boy is truly happy! He is so excited to see people that he can hardly contain himself. He has been adopted and lives in Scottsdale.

Dorothy arrived from Texas just in time for Valentines Day! She raced 120 times and won 23 races when she was a career girl. She had been in a home, but due to her first adopter’s medical issues, she has returned to Arizona Heartfelt Hounds. This 5 1/2 year old is so incredibly sweet and has now been adopted by Denise H. Dottie has a greyhound brother named Diablo.

Blanche arrived from Texas just in time for Valentines Day! In her career she raced a whopping 180 times and won 15 races. She has very soft fur and is such a gentle soul. Blanche had some complications after her spay. Thanks to the wonderful care of her fosters Carolyn and Dan P, Blanche found her forever home in Vegas, baby!

Anjou (Now Mosley)

Anjou’s racing name was ADC Travlin Man. He is happy to have traveled from Orlando to join our family. He was a bit shy at first but is blossoming in his new home.

Petra was surrendered to us with a broken front leg. The fracture was not repairable, and her leg was amputated in March, 2023. She was adopted by her foster Mom Courtney and lives in Tucson. Petra continues to improve and has learned to navigate as a tripod!

Leo returned to Arizona Heartfelt Hounds. He is now the SpokesDog for Sol Dog Lodge and Training Center. He lives with our Marketing and Outreach Director, Shelley Harris, and another Borzoi named Sophie.

SOPHIE

Status: Adopted

Sophie is an 8-year-old female borzoi who joined our family in August due to a family emergency. During her vet work up, it was discovered that she has thyroid issues, and a lump was found on her abdomen. The lump was removed and found to be cancerous. Fortunately, the cancer was removed and had not metasticized. She had one mammary chain removed and she healed comfortably in her foster home.

Sophie was adopted by her foster Mom, Shelley. They later welcomed the amazing Leo into the family!

Hound Mixes

STOLI

Stoli is a 6-year-old, female Saluki mix. She joined our family from California and is originally from Qatar. Stoli lived with a female greyhound but did not get along well with her greyhound sister.

Stoli was adopted by a wonderful couple, Nancy and Ken in Sahuarita. She will be an only dog and enjoys relaxing and learning to play with toys.

jasmine

Jasmine came into our foster program with our AHH board member, Marjorie S. Jasmine had a lot of anxiety because her whole world was turned upside down. Our vet Dr Karter Neal at Santa Cruz Veterinary Clinic prescribed some medication for Jasmine’s anxiety. She also received a clean bill of health.

Phoenix

Phoenix is a very sweet boy. He came to us as a feral dog who was living outside a vacant home. He was very frightened, at first, with all the new sights and sounds of living inside a home. To help him build confidence, Phoenix had some training at Sol Dog Lodge and has made tremendous progress. Although he still startles with sudden noises, he is adapting and becoming “at home” in a home. He sleeps well at night (and most of the day!) and likes to be petted. He rarely barks or whines. His daddy was an Afghan Hound, but Phoenix’s coat is short and he doesn’t really shed.

Butch and his littermate Sundance are two Borzoi mixes that joined our family from the Willcox Animal Shelter. Butch is the more outgoing of the two brothers. He was fostered in a home with 4 greyhound foster siblings. He is a goofy, happy boy.

Sundance and his littermate Butch are two Borzoi mixes that joined our family from the Willcox Animal Shelter. Sundance is a very happy, silly boy and the “quieter” of the two brothers… but he is still a puppy! He was fostered in a home with a pit mix foster sister. Butch and Sundance are the sweetest boys ever!
