Join the Volunteer Pack
  • We’re so glad you’re thinking about joining our amazing volunteer community! Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Sol Dog Lodge. Whether it’s helping dogs feel safe and loved, supporting families, or assisting with events, your time and energy make a big difference.

    Here’s how to get started:

    1. Apply Online
Head to our volunteer sign-up page and click “Sign Up For This Organization” to create your account and fill out the Volunteer Application.

    2. We Review & Reach Out
Our Volunteer Coordinator will review your application within 24–48 hours. You can always log in to make changes to your answers if needed.

    3. Let’s Meet
If it looks like a good fit, you’ll get an email inviting you to schedule a time for an in-person interview and tour of our facility. It’s a great way for us to get to know each other!

    4. Background Check
After the tour, we’ll send you a link to complete a background check. This is required for all volunteers before they begin working with us.

    5. Get Ready to Roll
Once you’re approved and your background check is cleared, we’ll send you our onboarding materials—including training, our Volunteer Code of Conduct, a Liability Waiver, and a few other forms.

    6. You’re In!
After your onboarding is complete, you can begin scheduling shifts and joining us around the lodge.

Please note: the full process usually takes 1–3 weeks depending on scheduling and paperwork.

If you have any questions or need help during the process, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator, Wesley Perry, at [email protected]. We’re excited to welcome you to the team!

There are many ways to lend a paw! Some of our core volunteer opportunities include:

Sol Dog Lodge_Icon-miniDog Care – Assist with daily routines such as feeding and enrichment

Sol Dog Lodge_Icon-miniTraining Assistance – Support our trainers with class prep and observation

Sol Dog Lodge_Icon-miniAdministrative Help – Lend a hand with data entry, office support, and more

Sol Dog Lodge_Icon-miniFacility Support – Help us maintain a clean and welcoming environment

Additional training is required to handle dogs directly. Once approved, we’ll provide the guidance you need to get started safely.

If you have questions or aren’t sure where you’d fit in, contact Wesley—he’ll help match you with the right opportunity.

Foster a Dog
Taylor and his bear

Fostering is one of the most meaningful ways you can support Sol Dog Lodge.

As a foster, you’ll provide a loving temporary home for a dog until a forever placement is found. We provide food, supplies, and medical care. You provide the space, patience, and love that helps a dog adjust, recover, and thrive.

Interested in fostering? Reach out to Wesley Perry at [email protected] for more information.

Our Impact

We’re proud of the work our volunteers and fosters make possible:

Sol Dog Lodge_Icon-miniOver 6000 dogs served in the past year

Sol Dog Lodge_Icon-miniOver 3000 pounds of food distributed to families in need through the Marana Food Bank

Sol Dog Lodge_Icon-mini Hundreds of volunteer hours donated

Sol Dog Lodge_Icon-miniMonthly events hosted and held in the community

Stay tuned—we’ll be adding more stats, stories, and photos soon to celebrate our community impact.

Thank you for considering joining the Sol Dog Lodge volunteer team. Whether you give an hour, a day, or a home—you’re making a difference.

HOW TO GET STARTED
  • To get started please complete our on-line Volunteer Application, which is located on the Sol Dog Lodge website, and tell us what you would like to do within our organization.
  • All volunteers in any capacity must also complete and sign a Volunteer Code Of Conduct and Liability Waiver prior to starting their volunteer duties.

Just one more thing, right now we are not accepting any volunteers under the age of 18. Once Sol Dog Lodge is up and running in Marana in late 2024, we will open volunteer opportunities to ages 15 and up. We will also then have volunteer opportunities for dog loving, hugging, and walking.

CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Foster
Taylor and his bear

If you are interested in becoming a foster, please fill out our Foster Application. We will reach out to you first to discuss the opportunities and do a quick phone interview. From there we will complete a home check.

Adoption Coordination
Emily
We are currently looking for individuals in southwest Pima County, Pinal and Maricopa Counties to assist with adoption applications and transportation. We will train you to be the initial point of contact for the potential adopter, arrange for a home inspection, let the potential adopter know the availability of suitable dogs and where to meet them, and arrange for the actual adoption. It’s a great way to get to know new adopters and dogs!
Transportation
Emily 7/10/19
Perhaps you’d rather get behind the wheel instead of meeting people face to face. Squiring hounds to and from vet appointments, doing fecal runs and taking dogs to events. This type of volunteering does requires the following:
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and valid auto insurance. If you qualify through our insurer, you can also utilize our transport van to transport dogs.
  • Ability to assist within only 24 hours notice.
  • Able to load up, lift and assist dogs that weight over 50 lbs. in and out of the vehicle.
  • Be able to at times, stay with the dog while at veterinary appointments.
  • Ability, at times to communicate prescription drug information and doses to kennel staff or foster.

Do you love speaking, interacting with the public, or just like talking about dogs? Then do we have the opportunity for you!!! We always need outreach volunteers to share our mission and the joys of sighthound adoption. You will talk to service groups, schools, businesses, active adult communities, and other organizations throughout the community. As well, as work at events and helping create that outreach vibe!!! You can transport a dog, but you will need to meet the requirement for transporting dogs, (see above).
Events

We are always looking for those social butterflies and event coordinators to take our events from start to finish. New ideas and ways to have fun are greatly encouraged.
